Additionally the gear can also be changed without the engine and axle speeds being synchronised. The driving shaft A is cut in two. The front half carries an annulus B, on the periphery of which is fixed an electro magnet C. which turns in- tegrally with it. The current which excites this mag- net is introduced by terminal X. and a brush. The rear portion D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} of the clutch shaft carries three planets E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Floating on this same shaft is a sun wheel F.{Mr Friese} solid with a plate G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Finally an electro magnet H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} is carried in the rear part of the tube I. When assembled the planets E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} are in constant engage- ment with the sun wheel F.{Mr Friese} and the annulus B. When neither electro magnet is excited, the plate G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} and sun wheel F.{Mr Friese} turn freely. The shaft D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} has then no tendency to rotate and the car is in neutral. When C. is excited the plate G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} is locked to it magnetically. The annulus B. and sun wheel F.{Mr Friese} being simultaneously locked, the planets E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} can have no independent | ||
