movement and the gear turns solidly i.e. direct drive without gear noise.

When H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} is excited, plate G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} and the sun wheel F.{Mr Friese} are held. The planets then roll round the sun wheel and give the necessary reduction. Provision is made for the failure of the current by providing a hand locking device Z. which can be made to restrain plate G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp}, so fixing the gear in the lower speed.

SUMMARY.

The outstanding impressions gained from these trials are that the twelve cylinder engines have not solved the question of noise from the power unit, and that little or no progress has been made in improving suspension. It is unfortunate that the conventional chassis necessitates the power unit being placed where its noise is so noticeable, and the passengers where they are so uncomfortable. We are at least aware of the riding advantages to be gained by cars such as 1S-EX. and 26-EX. The problem appears to be rather to make such seating positions practicable with luggage on the present type of car, rather than completely re-design the suspension to improve the conditions of the occupants sitting in the wrong place.
