S/W. He/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}.....from Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}1/WT10.6.33. Your ref. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}1/WT.2.6.33 Replying to your queries :- 1. I am sorry that we have no data on this point. 2. The big crankshaft 4 1/2 litre engines increased from 65 m.m. to 80 m.m. (on the main bearings only) definitely dropped the power by about 7 h.p. although the engine Sir Henry Birkin used and which holds the lap record at Brooklands used this larger crankshaft. 3. This coupling was a Bosch, and Service say that although they have had no failures it gets slack and tends to run out of truth on its outside diameter, which although not detrimental does not look nice, I think the B.T.H. or Simms are better.
