To-BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} WHE. re Bentley Car. ---------------- The following are a few criticisms received just prior to the Whitsuntide Holidays. These points are being looked into with a view to improving them. No.1. Bentley Front Apron falling off on Brooklands. This is due to the movement of the front dumb irons. We are working at a scheme of introducing some sort of flexibility such as a rubber packing securing the apron to the frame. No.2. It is complained that in operating the front bonnet fasteners the knuckles are damaged on the louvres. We are seeing if it is possible to shorten the front louvres a little more. No.3. The spare ignition coil bracket bolts drop inside the steering bracket when the nuts are removed. We are altering these to studs. No.4. The bonnet packing strip on the sides of the radiator shell flap about. The Works have not got these right. They should be fixed by four countersunk screws, as shown on N. Sch.3566. No.5. The moulded rubber bonnet packing around the edge of the dash does not stay in position. We shall increase the width of the rubber moulding to make it stiffer for the engaging lips. No.6. It is a slow process filling the petrol tank the last two gallons. To improve this we are making the top holes in the baffles larger in size to improve the ventilation. E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} | ||
