The MIDLAND MOTOR CYLINDER CO LTD. Telegrams RAFWORK SMETHWICK Telephone 1151-2-3 SMETHWICK Our Ref:- TECH.DEPT. ECT/HA. MIDCYL Birmid Works, Smethwick Near Birmingham Their Ref:- RN{Mr Robinson}/SWDL.{Len H. Swindell}11/MH.{M. Huckerby} Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. 26th. May. 1938. Dear Sirs, We have your letter of the 24th May referring to "Monikrom" camshafts, and will be most interested to hear the results of your further tests. In regard to your query with reference to gear wheels, we have found that "Monikrom" is very suitable indeed, and possesses the usual sound absorbing properties associated with cast iron. At the same time it gives a machined surface which is most effective for gear tooth operation and possesses very high strength properties. We consider that your drawing RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}474.would be quite suitable for production in "Monikrom" and would be glad to know whether you wish us to supply sample castings. Yours faithfully, THE MIDLAND MOTOR CYLINDER CO.LTD. (E.C. Toghill) TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT. | ||
