608 To Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GR.{George Ratcliffe} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GR.{George Ratcliffe}15/JR.{Mr James Royce}15.7.38. WRAITH III. Carburetter. Distortion of floatchamber lid.{A. J. Lidsey} With reference to ECD.769, we do not think this will be very satisfactory in service. One assembled the olive becomes rigidly clamped to the pipe. We find the best arrangement to be separate pipes from the lid{A. J. Lidsey} and manifold respectively, with a blank plug for the existing tray; both pipes secured by a common clip at the crankcase joint bolt. We also find that the tray can be deleted in future carburetters as there is only approximately one spot every 4 secs. when flooding on maximum. Will you therefore prepare the necessary drawings as soon as possible, as these parts are urgently required for the 24 chassis already built on test.
