To HHG,

Re/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}7/RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8.7.35.

SpectreCodename for Phantom III, Bentley & 25 HP. Servos with Splined Linings.

We noticed recently that on 21-G-IV servo the linings had been filed on the outside dia. and on the width of the splines in order to make them fit the servo parts. This completely defeats the object of this method of securing the linings, as the splines were introduced to provide a method of securing the linings without necessitating their being handled.

We should be glad if you would let us know which of the parts are of incorrect size, so that if it is the linings we can take the matter up with the makers.

This applies to the SpectreCodename for Phantom III as well as to Bentley and 25 HP.

We also noticed on 21-G-IV that the inside dia. of the rubbing faces on the outer pressure plate and on the drum only just cleared the outside dia. of the splines on the opposite parts. We think that the difference in dia. of the parts concerned should be at least 0.050". Will you please check this clearance and alter the drawings if necessary.

Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.J.Hardy.
