- 24 - Horn Relay. Standard Unit. A fair amount of wear had taken place on the first relay contacts, but the unit was otherwise satisfactory. Ignition Coils. These are Lucas coils; they were satisfactory in France, but were reported faulty by Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} when running in London after the endurance run in France. We have tested these coils on a Bentley and find them faulty on pick up. Ballast Resistance. These were in quite good condition. H.T. Cables. The Helsby Cable was reported as having failed, but on the bench was found to be quite satisfactory. The coils were afterwards discovered to misfire under certain conditions, however, and this may account for the report. The condition of the welded lugs on the conduit was good, and an improvement seems to have been effected by securing them by this method. Distributors. Contact points were a little oily, but the condition generally was good. Starter Motor. Condition good. Starter Motor Main Switch. The contacts were somewhat burnt and pitted, but the condition generally was good. Lucas Footswitch. The body was found to have worked loose from the base; the condition of the contacts was very good. HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/R.{Sir Henry Royce} Hollingworth. | ||
