Dear Sirs,

CADMIUM NICKEL BEARING ALLOY N.S.5.

We are in receipt of your letter of the 18th instant, and note your interest in the cadmium-nickel bearing alloy known as Asarcoloy No.7 in the United States, and of which we hold the patent rights in this country. The physical properties which you quote seem to be in agreement with information received from the originators of the alloy in America. We have no reason to doubt any of these figures but we have not so far supplied alloy to a specification of physical properties. You will appreciate, of course, that conditions of subsequent remelting and casting, over which we have no control, can affect the physical properties very considerably.

However, we do quote certain figures as compared with a high grade tin-base alloy, in an attempt to show that the Cadmium-Nickel alloy NS.{Norman Scott}5 has some advantages so far as mechanical tests indicate. For the remainder we prefer the potential user to make his own tests. We are requesting our Commercial Department to send to you a copy of a brochure on this alloy.

We shall be very pleased to have experimental chassis bearings metalled for you. Perhaps you will send the bearing shells to us with the necessary drawings.

Yours faithfully,

S.W.K. Morgan
HEAD OF RESEARCH DEPARTMENT.

HLE/GLD.
