COPY OF LETTER RECEIVED FROM :- BORG & BECK COMPANY LIMITED, TACHBROOK ROAD, LEAMINGTON SPA. Ref. HA/WM. 4th. October 1937. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. For the attention of Mr. R.W. Harvey-Bailey. Dear Sirs, We are in receipt of your letters of the 1st. and 2nd October, with reference to the 13½" Clutch Plate for the Phantom lll model. With regard to your suggestion that we send you a number of sets of material for you to build up, we feel that perhaps we both may find some useful points in doing this, and therefore, immediately we receive further discs which we anticipate will be to-morrow, which have been produced from Press Tools, we will endeavour to get half a dozen ground up and forward these to you along with the other necessary parts. As mentioned on the telephone to your Mr. Goodall, on Saturday morning, the Writer would then like to come along and see one or two of these built up at your Works with a view to finding out any points which may be helpful to both sides. In the meantime, you may rest assured that we are doing everything possible to let you have supplies, but would point out that we have the greatest difficulty in producing plates to the limits shown, and in some instances, we have had to strip assemblies two or three times before being able to obtain satisfactory plates. However, the difficulties which are apparent in the manufacture of this plate are no doubt appreciated by your goodselves without them being reiterated here. Yours faithfully.
