taken down and examined. The cause was due to bits of brass and aluminium having hammered into the valve seats and pitting the seats of the valves. The oil was full of particles of aluminium and brass. The damper was made O.K. after grinding in the low and high pressure valves.

REAR SHOCK DAMPERS to LOF.F.55944.

(1) F.57380 Intermediate Lever (S/ZZK). replaces P.56357 (S/W).
(2) Scheme 1269 (Fig.2) Spring Loaded Connecting Link.
(3) Hole in H.F. Valve deleted.
(4) Air vent Ball Valve Lift restricted to .010"
Loads set:- Low Pressure 60 lbs.
High Pressure 75 lbs.

The rear dampers have been free from knocks. The N.S. damper poundage had dropped to 30 lbs H.F. This was caused by dirt being hammered into the seat; similar to the front damper. The oil was in the same condition, fresh clean oil has been added in both cases.
The O.S. damper was found with air in the system, making the lever have a short movement with no load. The damper was O.K. after this air had been pumped out. All the shock dampers had remained firmly tightened up, no bolts or nuts were found loose.

REAR BRAKE EQUALISER (FOOT) to LOF G.53709 - N.S.3162.

(1) Full Rod G.54357 } to N.S.3162.
Full Ropes G.54360 }

(2) G.L.377 Reducing direct braking by 25% using G.54143 Operating Lever in place of G.52381.

With the movement of the cross member, the lay out of the equaliser makes the pull rods too long and flimsy. They vibrate considerably. The angle of the rod attached to the servo mechanism makes it foul the anchor bracket of the servo. This will have to be re-arranged.

PEDAL STARTER GEAR to LOF F.54277.

With the fitting of the spot light foot switch, there is a great danger of the starter switch being operated whilst the engine is running. We strongly recommend that this switch lever should be turned round to operate the opposite way to avoid this danger.

FRONT ROAD SPRINGS to LOF F.55538

An examination of the springs does not show any fractures of the spring leaves to have taken place. The lubrication appears from an outside examination to be O.K. There has been no squeaks. The springing of the front of the car is considered to be good for the continental roads at high and low speeds.
