X8080 To FNJ from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BJ. c. to H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} c. to CWB. c. to Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LCL.9.9.26. Replying to PN{Mr Northey}9/DN31.8.26. It is only recently we have heard of the fault of throttles sticking on the Phantom car. We do not remember it being reported during the 15,000 miles which 11-EX car was run by Bales. Our Repair Dept. report that the fault is due to gummy deposit forming on the surfaces where the throttle shuts. They point out that they have on several cars overcome the complaint by easing off the sharp edge of the throttle where it comes in contact with the barrel. This modification is being made on future cars - it can quite easily be carried out. We should very much like to hear how 'N' have dealt with 11-EX, and whether the trouble has been overcome. We realise the difficulties with the butterfly valve in the exhaust pipe. As soon as ever it is possible, this feature will be eliminated. The sticking of the valve in the pipe, of course, cannot effect the throttle valve. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 1804 MADE AT CROXLEY | ||
