Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} SpectreCodename for Phantom III Ground Clearance - Ref.Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/KW.7.11.34. In reply to your memo, we send you herewith LeC.4180 showing the ground clearances of the whole of the chassis for normal ride and on maximum bump. We have issued instructions for all the modifications which affect the crossmembers of the frame. All our drawings for the exhaust system are ready for issue except for the construction of the baffles inside the silencer. In regard to the silencer tail pipe, the drawing shows this raised 1" higher than the original SpectreCodename for Phantom III. We think this would be of benefit if we could raise this, and the petrol tank, and we are awaiting a reply from EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} to say if it will affect the bodywork and the luggage carrier. The ground clearances will now compare favourably with the Cadillac clearances and will be slightly better than Phantom. SpectreCodename for Phantom III Cadillac. Phantom. No.2.
