SPECIFICATIONS Buick 8 NEW "R.O." SERIES FOUR NEW MODELS MODEL 40 SPECIAL MODEL 80 ROADMASTER MODEL 60 CENTURY MODEL 90 LIMITED ENGINES. Eight cylinder with silent oil cushioned overhead valves operated by enclosed push rods. Detachable cylinder head. Five-point suspension with rubber mountings. Bore and stroke. Model 40: 3 3/32" x 4 1/8" (78.58 x 104.78). R.A.C. Rating 30.6 h.p. Models 60, 80 and 90: 3 7/16" x 4 5/16" (87.31 x 109.54). R.A.C. Rating 37.8 h.p. LUBRICATION. Forced feed by gear-type pump. Special oil filter and oil temperature control. Crankcase ventilating system. Chassis lubrication manual by high pressure gun. COOLING. Water cooled by centrifugal pump, thermostatically controlled by-pass type of water temperature control. GEAR BOX. Silent synchromesh transmission with helical cut gears. Three speeds forward and one reverse. Gear lever mounted on steering column. CLUTCH. Series 40 has an entirely new simplified clutch using a one-piece conical shaped spring with corrugated surface. Series 60, 80 and 90, single dry-plate disc type with cushioning springs, totally enclosed. CARBURETTOR. Down-draught type with automatic choke, heat and idle control. Silent air cleaner. Petrol Pump. Petrol tank at rear. Capacity Models 40 and 60: 15 gallons. Models 80 and 90: 16 1/2 gallons. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Complete Delco 2-unit for electric lighting, starting and ignition. Dual controlled automatic starting, operated by accelerator or hand throttle. Combined steering and ignition lock. STEERING GEAR. Centre point controlled steering, with worm and double roller type steering gear. REAR AXLE. Semi-floating with Torque Tube drive, all Chassis models. BRAKES. Hydraulic brakes on four wheels. Mechanical hand brake on rear wheels with brake lever under dash. Braking area: Model 40: 158.7 sq. ins. Models 60 and 80: 181.4 sq. ins. Model 90: 214.6 sq. ins. FRAME. Models 40 and 60: Complete box section frame. Models 80 and 90: Double drop straight pressed steel side rails.
