THE MOST MODERN CHASSIS IN THE WORLD Rear end chassis frame on the Series 40 and 60. Note rear stabiliser. Torque tube drive with new strut rods and shock absorbers. The frame terminates just behind the rear axle at which point Bui-Coil springs carry the load. The new Series 40 and 60 chassis with rigid transom "X" box type frame, torque tube drive with new strut rods, sway stabilisers front and rear, coil springing on all four wheels, knee action front and new shock absorbers. BUICK 8 DYNAFLASH OIL-CUSHIONED VALVE-IN-HEAD Buick straight 8 Dynaflash valve-in-head engine. 10% more efficient than conventional engines of equal size and compression. With their new turbulator pistons Series 40 develop 107 h.p., and Series 60, 80 and 90 141 h.p. Other features are counter-weighted crankshaft with torsional balancer, new fuel conditioner for economy, oil cushioning, individually cooled cylinders. Knee action front springing, with improvements, giving the effect of banked roads on corners with light and positive steering. Improved shock-free steering, giving the lightest response with firm control at all speeds. Also showing new front stabiliser bar, ahead of the front cross member on all Special and Century models. Buicks have had always an immense reserve of power but the Sixty chassis is produced for those requiring exceptional performance. Its 37.8 h.p. engine gives 143 b.h.p. and top speeds of 100 m.p.h. It is known in Canada as the Buick Century. Acceleration from 10 to 60 miles an hour in less than 17 seconds is an indication of the power weight ratio of the "CENTURY." It has the safety of tiptoe hydraulic brakes and Steel Turret Top bodies. FIVE YEARS AHEAD • BUICK LEADS IN DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE AER Demonstrating new "Handishift" light and simple gear lever ON THE STEERING COLUMN. A long-wanted improvement, out of knee way and leaving clear floorboards and more comfort for third passenger in front seat. Note this new type of steering wheel is standard on 60, 80 and 90 models only. Greatly increased visibility is the keynote of the new front screen, which has greater glass area and thinner pillars. The new dashboard shows the instruments in a neat cluster at eye line. The hand brake is at the right-hand side beneath the dashboard. The spacious built-in luggage compartments, with capacity up to 26 cubic feet, sufficient for several suitcases. No fumbling is necessary to remove luggage from this jumbo compartment.
