+8830 To CJ. BJ. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} PN.{Mr Northey} c. to C. CWB. R/M/16.11.25. RE. STEERING WHEELS, AND SEATS. X. 8430 X. 8830 As standard, I do not agree to any other dimen- sions than our 9" under the wheel to the compressed seat, and an 18" wheel. If anyone wants less let them pack up the cushion, get a thicker cushion, or an additional one, but if the seats are too high nothing can be done - (a frequent fault). I do not believe drivers cannot see unless they loll in the seats or are in some way abnormal. I suggest for trial we make a steering wheel with a thinner rim which might be a circular section, and also delete the central top spoke, but to make such a wheel thoroughly strong it will be necessary to have a steel tube inside the rim.
