-------

Thank you for your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.10/KW.19.4.34, together with copy of your memo JLE.{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager}

We have received two cars so far, viz:- 5 RY and 9 RY, the former belonging to Lord Portarlington, and being used for demonstration at Windovers, and the latter to Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} at "S". In each of these cases, there were knocks in the shock dampers, and we came to the conclusion that they were due to air locks in the shock dampers, which were knocking.

We disconnected the pressure pipe in each case, then ran the engine in order to pass the oil along the pipe. After reconnecting the pipe and replenishing the pump box with oil, the knocks complained of were found to have been cured, and it was then possible to put the control into any position, including the maximum.

We, of course, at "N" do not know whether this will prove to be a permanent cure, as only time will show.

If it is your wish that we should let you know next time we get a case of this description, we will telephone you, although you will understand that it is sometimes very inconvenient to keep a customer's car for any length of time, especially if the work required can be done quickly.

Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager}
