X.3014 Ck.{Mr Clark} from EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} C. to EN. (crossed out) C. to DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} (crossed out) C. to PY. (crossed out) EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}9/F5.3.20. F.R. (stamped) RE. LUCAS DYNAMO TERMINAL FAILURE - X.3014. With reference to your Ck{Mr Clark}3/T3.3.20, I should like to point out that we have recently had a failure of one of the connections on a dynamo, similar to the one complained of by Mr. Royce in his notes. It would certainly appear that we are likely to have trouble with these dynamos in a similar way when the cars are despatched. I should be glad therefore if you could issue instructions to the works to avoid further dynamos being passed for the unit test until a modification has been added to this job, also send a copy of the instructions to me, so that I can arrange for modifications to be made on dynamos on test and dynamos on cars delivered where such are accessible. Meantime, we are carefully inspecting this job to see that as far as possible dynamos which are delivered are correct in this respect, but under the circumstances cannot guarantee that they will remain so.
