NEW SILENT TREAD TYRE.

With reference to Roy{Sir Henry Royce}3/MG21.11.30.
We are surprised to hear that non Fort tyres are being fitted to the 20" wheels on the Phantom II.

We cannot recollect having been informed that this was projected. The standardisation sheet of 18.2.30 specifically mentioned "Fort" and 7" tyres. The 20" wheel with the standard non Fort tyre was definitely turned down by ourselves and PN.{Mr Northey} on the score of poor steering.

Our sheet of 12.11.30 concerns tread pattern only and as such, no alteration in tyre size is called for.

Your reference to "Comfort" in regard to these 7" x 20" tyres we do not understand. We attach a copy of MX{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}4/T17.6.29 which represents our opinion also.
