Dunlop Tyres

Following our conversation on Saturday (22nd) and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/AD24.11.30 re Dunlop Tyres for our 20 HP. and 40/50 HP. Models, the Dunlop Company query the type required in the modified Si;ent Tread now standardised, i.e., they state:

"It is now understood that you will call for "Fort" "Tyre equipment for the 40/50 HP. as well as the 20 HP. Model. "We take it that this will apply to all Tyres whether "with Silent or Triple Stud Tread."

As far as the modified Silent Tread for 40/50 HP. Chassis is concerned, Standardisation Sheets dated 13.2.30 and 7.11.30 make this clear. The Dunlop Company are proceeding with the necessary moulds and we are confirming to them accordingly.

The second paragraph of my previous Memo. i.e, ROY{Sir Henry Royce}3/MG21.11.30, re "Fort" Tyres for PHANTOM II Chassis, should have referred to such Tyres when fitted to 21" Wheels; but I am rather at a loss to understand why the Dunlop Company have queried the matter, as all the present Silent Type Tyres (20" Wheels) for 40/50 HP. Chassis they have delivered are of the "Fort" Type.

It will be about 8 weeks before the Dunlop Company will have bulk supplies of these "Fort" Type Tyres ready for both our 20 HP. and 40/50 HP. Models in the modified Silent Tread.

ROY.{Sir Henry Royce}
