- 3 - Fitting and Assembly Criticisms. Design Remarks. 10. When the brake drum is assembled to the axle shaft it is extremely difficult to remove owing to its being located. 11. With the design PD.125 the brake assembly must be built up in position on the axle. This, from the production point of view, is undesirable, and we suggest that the design be reconsidered with the object of producing the brakes as an independent unit. The following minor details should also receive attention :- 12. The right hand differential casing fouls one of the .250 diameter bridge securing bolts. 13. The differential pinion bush GB.3871 cannot be fitted since no allowance has been made on the pinion to accommodate the bush shoulder. 14. The split pins in the expander unit foul the pins in the collar of the brake push rod. 15. The dust excluder GB.3836 fouls in the radii at the ends of the carrier plate flange. This could be avoided by increasing the radius to .500 continued. | ||
