X4601 To Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} from EFC. EFC4/T10.11.26. CONTACT BREAKER COMPONENT. Herewith we hand to you the contact breaker component of one of the magnetos for Falcon X, in connection with which a complaint of misfiring has been received. The condition of the points is not now satisfactory and this may have been due to the ingress of oil. We have verified that the misfiring is not due to the condenser, which tests out to be in good order. We criticise the mechanism of this contact breaker as not being quite O.K. inasmuch as on adjustment of the contact breaker gap, it requires more bedding of the contact breaker points than is usual. This would appear to arise from the fact that the plane of the contact breaker points in the working position does not pass exactly through the axis of the pivot. Would you please return this to Messrs. Norths to be corrected so that we may again put this magneto in working order for further test. EFC. | ||
