EFC. X4021 10.11.26. WATFORD TYPE IS. AERO MAGNETOS. X4021/20 Points of possible improvement. (1) Condenser would be better protected if enclosed in case. One failure has already occurred. (2) H.T. flexible connection liable to failure. (3) Safety gap too close to windings. (4) Double springs on contact breaker. (5) Need for some simple method of disconnecting the primary for convenience of timing the break. (6) Screw securing H.T. flexible should be locked. (7) Location needed for contact breaker cover to ensure that earthing brush makes contact with primary terminal plate. (8) Distributors foul rotor when interchanged. (9) Contact points burn rapidly on one magneto and misfiring occurs. This is probably due to influx of oil into the contact breaker compartment or a faulty condenser. (10) Polished aluminium finish like B.T.H. would be better as enamel chips off very soon and magneto presents untidy appearance. Nos. 2, 3, and 6 only, apply to IS.16 type. EFC/H.E.West. | ||
