SPRINGING TEST AT CRICKLEWOOD - GAE.20. 3 passengers and driver & 2 passengers and driver. Test on Road. Front of car slight pitch, no roll, rear heaves and switch back motion. Condition Roll rod removed. Driver and 2 passengers. Test on Road. Slightly more sway and roll and pitch in front, rear no change. Condition Increased initial poundage of front dampers by washer .010, bled pipe lines and topped up pump. Test on Road. Riding in rear of car improved, less switch back motion, rather harsh in front, considerably less pitch in front. Condition Reduced tyre pressures on road from 35 lbs to 30 on front tyres. Slight improvement of harshness. Front tyre pressures brought up to 35 lbs - harshness increased. Roll bar refitted. Test on road. Front of car more improved, no pitch, and no more harshness, but front damping rather harsh. Inspection Removed half gaiters of N.S.R. and O.S.F. and checked spring. Lubrication O.K. I suggest:- (1) slightly stronger set up springs to allow a reduced poundage of front dampers, and in order to (2) lower the heave of rear car. GWH{George W.
