This matter cropped up when Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} was here last Tuesday. It appears that the car which he so severely criticised was fitted with stiff front springs. There is no doubt that these cars did ride like lorries. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} agrees that the standard rear road springs can be used up provided that, at the same time, low rated front springs are fitted. The position is that the standard front spring has 2" initial deflection, the low rated front spring 4", so that this change will make an enormous difference. These standard rear springs which we are proposing to utilise are not very different from the existing low rated springs, the initial deflection being 5.25" and 6.4" Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
