X1282 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/KW. 28th November, 1935. F.R. Banks, Esq., The Ethyl Export Corporation, Thames House, Millbank, London, S.W.1. Dear Banks, Many thanks for your letter of the 26th November. I will not quote the source of the information re the two fuels contained in your letter. Regarding your table of octane values of Benzol mixtures when compared with Ethyl. Some of our single cylinder tests here definitely indicate that 50/50 Benzol mixture is a great deal better than Ethyl for absence of detonation. Perhaps next time you are up here we can discuss this question, as obviously it is not exactly a straightforward issue, particularly if the engine in question is boosted. Yours sincerely, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
