A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq., Experimental Department, Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Nightingale Road, Derby. Dear Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}, With further reference to your letter of the 6th November, I have just had the two samples of fuel tested, and these, under the C.F.R. motor method conditions, which are the usual conditions employed in this country for knock testing automobile fuels, are rated as follows:- Fuel No. 1 70.5 octane Fuel No. 2 70.0 octane As you will see from the results, these fuels have virtually the same octane value, and the results are well within experimental error. I should be much obliged, however, if you did not quote us on this. Yours sincerely, FRBanks FRB/RB.{R. Bowen} | ||
