M.51.MG W. A.{Mr Adams} Rowbotham, Esq., Rolls-Royce, Ltd., DERBY. TECHNICAL SERVICE BUREAU Dear Mr. Rowbotham, It is a fact upon which you have doubtless reflected at times that although the semi-technical automobile press in England is without rival in the world, there is, and always has been, a lack of purely technical papers directly serving the industry such as are published in U.S.A., Germany and other foreign countries. Although THE MOTOR must necessarily remain a paper written primarily for the ordinary motorist and owner-driver, we wish to increase its value to the industry. We believe that we can be of real service to members of the automobile trade, particularly on the engineering side, by publication of facts relating to design and production. We propose developing this side of our activities in three ways:- 1. Road Tests. We are issuing a folder containing the whole of the road tests published since the last Motor Show, classified in the groups up to 10 h.p., up to 15 h.p. and over 15 h.p. Once per month we shall issue reprints of the further road tests so that this file can be constantly at your call and will contain the latest information. 2. Technical Review. Beginning this Tuesday, February 1, we shall be publishing a series of monthly reviews dealing with various subjects which we believe are of interest to designers. We shall not in these reviews attempt to put forward our views but confine ourselves to giving statistical facts and examples of proved designs. P.T.O. | ||
