Hm. {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R. {Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X4261 R3/M 18.9.28. X.4261 X.4118 20 HP. G2. FRONT ROAD SPRINGS. PRE FRONT-WHEEL-BRAKES. I agree to changing these as they fail. Don't touch anything that is satisfactory, but when unsatisfactory be thorough and make the best cure we know, so that it has not to be done again. If a customer sends in a car for other reasons, on which he has had trouble with front springs, then change them to the best we know. I think it doubtfully correct to conclude that it is entirely a question of this 25% in stiffness, and also one thinks that the springs, if good ones, could be used with certain modifications to the leaves, i.e., more leaves added, some shortened. Anyway it ought to be done for less than £10,000 whatever price the springs, compared with Lemoine. R. {Sir Henry Royce} | ||
