X1282 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Derby. May 15th.1934. Trinidad Leaseholds Ltd. Regent Petrol. to Ely. With reference to your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}11/MA.9.5.34 I received a memo from C.(C9/C.8.3.34) stating that Regent Petrol was a suitable fuel, the Works having tried it, and could therefore be recommended. As a matter of curiosity, I thought it advisable to try it in the old type Bentley, so I obtained a few gallons of the various grades. As a result of placing this order, a representative of the Company came to see me. I informed him that the test, being carried out here, was of a very rough and ready nature and that having been informed that the petrol had been tested by the Works, I supposed that these tests had been of a more scientific nature and that if he wanted information concerning them, he should apply to the works and not to me. I imagine that the letter from Trinidad Leaseholds dated 7th May is the result of this, though from what has been said in the letter, the position has been rather misunderstood. Pk. | ||
