Referring to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/MJ.4.7.30 and Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}1/E7.7.30 I took the opportunity of discussing this matter with R.{Sir Henry Royce} and with Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} after the Board Meeting, on Monday last.

R.{Sir Henry Royce} would like to see them use a type of bumper such as that indicated in E.1/M14.6.30 but he is not insistent on the matter and quite agrees that, in order to obviate delay, we should carry out the collision tests with their standard bumper.

I do not think we had better do this on the second left-hand chassis as I donot want to run the risk of the frame being damaged so Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} and I came to the conclusion that the best thing to do would be to make the test on the 10,000 mile test car as soon as it is available.

When I saw Oy. yesterday he said that he thought the best way would be to make the tests on a spare frame which I understand is the same as our standard and would merely have to be fitted with the front forgings for their bumpers.

I leave it to you, however, to make whatever arrangements you think best, bearing in mind the importance of obviating the hold-up on account of this test.
