x4117 Works H/29.5.24. re. 40/50 HP. Springing Complaint by Mr. Sidney Norris of Messrs. Cockshoots, Manchester. " Following on the Works Conference we proceeded to Manchester last Friday, as arranged, Cockshoots having previously fixed up with Mr. G.C.Haworth, owner of chassis 28-UG, and Mr. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Taylor, owner of chassis 50-YG, for their cars to be at our disposal. Chassis 28-UG - G.C.Haworth. We rode in the car with Mrs. Haworth on Friday morning last, the 23rd. inst. We were immediately able to appreciate the owner's complaint which is that road shocks of the slightest description set up a vibration and are transferred to the passengers sitting on the rear seat, in such a manner as to make the riding of the car extremely unpleasant. This unpleasantness is noticed at quite low speeds, and will be felt the whole of the time the car is driven over any except flat smooth road surfaces. We found the tyres were too highly inflated, but correcting this made no appreciable difference to the vibrations or "dithers". Unfortunately we were not able to carry out any experiments with the Shock Absorbers as they were out of action through the pin holding the centre bolts having sheared on both the Shock Absorbers. The springs are fitted with "Rectaskids". We cannot say whether this has a tendency to increase the vibrations or otherwise. This car is coming into the Works for repair towards the end of the month, and we have promised Mr. Haworth that if we get any results from our investigations at the time we receive the car, we will carry out what alterations are necessary to effect an improvement. The body is by Cockshoots, Manchester. Chassis 50-YG. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Taylor. This complaint is exactly similar to that of 28- | ||
