Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}2/I 13th February, 1934. Messrs. Joseph Lucas Ltd., Great King Street, BIRMINGHAM, 19. Gentlemen:- BENTLEY HEADLAMPS. We were disappointed to find the new pattern CBD.167. SED.E.5. headlamps reach us with vertical dippers. We are not only disappointed, but surprised, in view of the fact that within the last month or two we have had to draw your attention to the fact that we could not accept P100 headlamps with vertical dippers for Rolls-Royce cars but, on the contrary, require the reflectors arranged not only to dip but to swing toward the near-side, as do the reflectors of RB.{R. Bowen}170.SED headlamps supplied to us for 20/25-HP. Rolls-Royce cars. We have, of course, discovered that by twisting the reflectors in the Bentley headlamps it is possible to obtain the same results as when they are normally designed to dip and swing toward the near-side, but when they are thus twisted the biflex bar is no longer vertical and, consequently, detracts from the appearance of the car. We shall be glad if you will arrange for all future Bentley headlamps supplied to us or to our Works to have the reflectors arranged to dip and swing to the near-side in the same way as do the reflectors of RB.{R. Bowen}170.SED lamps. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD., Sales Department. | ||
