I hope I have made it understandable that the air-intake and eventually the exhaust pipe have to be definitely shut when the engine is standing idle in order to attain the results which I have stated and which in fact have been astonishing. I think I must not point out to you a number of different shutter types designed e.g. to suit the different types of carburetters. The same is true for the operating arrangement. The shutters are operated from inside the car e.g. by a handle on or near the instrument board. I think of an operating handle which is so arranged that the shutter device must be opened before the starter can act. If desired a magnetic device | ||
