Sidgreaves - MD}8/D24.7.36 we certainly feel much concerned to hear that the white valve springs have failed as they were made from the best material we know of and are anxious to have the broken ones back at the Works so that we can have them investigated in order to find out if anything extra-ordinary has happened. As a further experiment we are getting an outside firm who specialise in the manufacture of valve springs to produce some springs from the same batch of material as we are using in order to find out if there is anything wrong with machine which we have for coiling our springs. We expect to have a supply from this firm to-morrow when we will have them thoroughly examined and tested immediately. In regard to the wear of the tappet adjusting screws we have made enquiries and there does not appear to have been any trouble in this connection, in fact we have examined those on 32 Ex and they are quite good. We would like to have the worn screws returned to us for examination therefore we have asked Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} to try and get hold of those taken from 34 Ex and return them to us along with the broken valve springs. BY/Cgh{W Clough} | ||
