γ 356 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} From Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} c. to W.Bell. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}3/MJ.24.10.36. Production are having considerable trouble with very rapid wear of rear wheel drivers. The Design Dept. have sent us several suggestions for overcoming this trouble. We have discussed with W.Bell. the method of accelerating the wear to get figures for the relative merits of the new suggestions. We send you herewith Sch.4935 and we are particularly interested in schemes (1) and (2) shewn on this drawing. We shall be glad therefore if you will put in hand :- Scheme 1 - A mild steel hub and a driver made in SZNX. Scheme 2 - We should like to be able to try hubs in both SM. and SN.{Mr Sanderson} and drivers in both SM. and SZNX. We do not think it worth while making any parts to scheme 3 until we have proved the first two to be unsatisfactory. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/H.Grylls. | ||
