X1070 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} c. to Hl. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth.5/KW.4.12.35. Solid Hall's Metal Bearings. We have tested a solid Hall's metal big end bush at the Cold Storage works and find that it does not tighten on to the pin unduly at - 10°C. We now want to test the main bearings in a similar manner. Will you please fit our bit of crankshaft into a section of a scrap crankcase, using white metal clearances. We understand that we have no spare bushes, so Hl. will have to cast us one front and one intermediate bearing. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.Ll.Smith. | ||
