X3875 Expl: Dept: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn{Mr Robinson}2/LG. 5th. July 1926. Messrs. Lucas, Electrical Department, Well Street, Birmingham. Dear Sirs, With reference to your letter of the 2nd. inst. ref. X/MD10. We wish you to supply us with the red lamp only. The contact for this lamp will be made by means of a device fitted to the standard Cambridge Distance Thermometer. This lamp, if satisfactory, will be fitted as standard equipment to all R-R cars. As we have previously pointed out, the sort of lamp we require is fitted to the Marelli equipment to indicate when the dynamo is not charging. We refrained from giving you a sketch because we thought you might have something which would be approximately what we required. However, herewith a sketch of the overall dimensions which we consider the most satisfactory for this type of lamp. It would be a considerable advantage if the bulb could be arranged for 12 volts and the minimum possible current consumption. If 12-volts is impracticable in such a lamp as this, we might be able to arrange a 4-volt circuit. Naturally, we should like the overall dimensions of the lamp to be as small as possible. We are very anxious to obtain this fitting as soon as possible and should be glad if you could let us know what you can do for us in the matter. Yours faithfully, | ||
