re Exhaust Cut-out on Phantom II Chassis,

and Flexible Engine Mounting.
-----------------------------

On the present P.II chassis the rear portion of the silencing system is rigidly anchored, and there is a sliding joint in the piping to take up the expansion between the front and rear half of the exhaust system.

With the flexible engine mounting scheme it is necessary to do away with this sliding jointand mount the whole of the exhaust system on spherical links so that it is free to swing about and expand, and is isolated from the chassis as far as possible.

This renders the operation of an exhaust cutout on the rear end of the silencer practically impossible and we are therefore proposing to delete this fitting entirely as regards P.II.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is in agreement with this proposal.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
