Sèvres P/S. Ps6/RJ.2/1/30. Re: Chassis 82-WJ - O.B. Fairfax Esq. This customer, who was en route for Nice, called at Sèvres with his car to complain of weak suspension, the car having crashed repeatedly on the way from the Coast to Paris. We discovered this to be due to the faulty fitting of the sub-frame to the chassis frame by the Body Builders (Windover's). The body was not square on the chassis, the central fixing bracket of the sub-frame having 3/8" more packing on the o/s than n/s, causing the wheel arches of the body and sub-frame to foul the brake drums. The sub-frame had suffered considerably. Moreover, the body was resting on the cross member of the chassis, and we were compelled to raise the body at the rear 1/4" to give body clearance. Even now we consider this is insufficient. We have debited Windovers with our expenses, Fcs. 90,-- and recommend that somebody be sent to Windovers to put them au courant with our recommendations in connection with sub-frames and body clearances.
