COPY. Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}/JGG/EBN.6/1/30. Chassis 22-WJ (C.B. Fairfax Esq.) Ref: Attached PsS/RJ.2/1/30. This refers to an early subframe Phantom II, i.e. Windovers' Show car on Windover Stand, and the position of this car is as referred to in my Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}/JGL/EBN.20/12/29; and with reference to paragraphs (2) The Coachbuilder was quite in order in using the packings and fitting the subframe in this way. The brake drum clearance was insufficient, and if this is made correct in accordance with latest practice the packing at centre bearing will not require to be touched. (3) It is quite wrong to raise the body to give this increased clearance. The body itself should be cut away to give it. This is another clearance which is now being given which was not in the early Phantom II. I think it is very urgent and important that Ps. should be advised that the mounting of subframe on chassis should not be interfered with at all because it will introduce all sorts of other complications with body doors, etc., and the Coachbuilders might justly complain of our interference. The clearances should be given on the body or subframe itself. Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}/JG. | ||
