6, Lyndhurst Rd. Scholes, Nr. Leeds. 20.11.60. Rolls Royce Ltd., Crewe, Cheshire. Dear Sir, I am just approaching my o'level exams and during my free time I experiment with various designs of modern cars and architecture I have recently been thinking how well the present Rolls must be selling, but on thinking into the future it seems that this traditional design could not however survive indefin-itely. I therefore attempted to produce a design which although being modern in general appearence still maintained that essen-tial traditional and classic appearance. I have executed this design in the form of a convertable model with twin headlamps in straight through wings mounted on the standard Silvr Cloud chassis; although the overall legth is slightly greater due to the longer and larger boot; the spare wheel lying horizontaly in the base of the boot. The side, rear and indicator lights are larger and thus safer than the previous lamp settings. The traditional radiator is flanked by low air intakes, below which the plain bumpers carry new designed overriders. I have also considered a modern fascia finished in the usual walnut veneer although the luxurious seats remain untou-ched Although you will be receiving many hundreds of ideas probably every week I hope you will not mind me submitting this idea for your views on such a design. Yours faithfully, R.C.Sutton | ||
