1036 To Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}9/ML.19.2.40. Carburettor. (Stromberg Twin Choke) We are in the process of developing the twin-choke Stromberg carburettor for the Rolls Royce range of engines. So much useful work has been done for us on the carburettor at the source of it's origin, the States, that for most of the troubles we have run into, we have generally found that one or other of the American cars have also experienced the same trouble, and the cure was already in existance, on a certain series of the same carburettor type. At the present time, therefore, we are in a position to pick the most suitable model Stromberg carburettor, and all that remains is to slightly alter it's appearance, as we have done on previous production models. At the same time we wish to make use of our own past experience in just how much it is necessary to do to this carburettor to alter it's appearance to suit our requirements, and maintain that appearance against reasonable wear and tear. For instance, we have halved the cost of the Wraith Stromberg carburettor since we first started using it, yet it's a appearance has actually been improved. The main reason for this was that we altered them structurally, and so, quite apart from "finish" the manufacture of these carburettors could not be carried out on the production line. It therefore follows, that at the present time, our alterations to the Stromberg twin-choke carburettor should consist of the minimum necessary. Our basic carburettor is Stromberg model AA.{D. Abbot-Anderson}V.25 as fitted to the 1938 Cadillac. The necessary alterations are as follows:- | ||
