Mr.Hardy. 5/5-0 RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/EG.12/DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions} 5.8.37. Report on 15 - 25/30 Roller Assemblies. ex. Messrs. Hoffmann. Herewith I send Inspector's report upon the Roller units. The rollers marked No.3-4, 9-10, 17-18, 21-22, 27-28, 29-30, 31-32, 39-40, 43-44. The Nos. 5-6, 11-12, 23-24, 25-26, 33-34, 35-36, require attention. The balls are good for size and there is nothing silly wrong with any of the assemblies. It is apparent that factors other than dimensional interference affect the preload and I am of the opinion that most of the difference of preloading is due to slight errors of lack of parallelism of distance piece and cone faces.
