Re. Chassis No. GRO-46
David Brown.

With reference to the failure of the oil pressure pipe on the above chassis, we have been making some tests on this job and have come to the conclusion that it is not simply a matter of initial clearance.

We have not seen the pipe which was damaged on this car, but we are assuming it is the main feed pipe from the pump to the crankcase side. This pipe runs underneath the offside engine guard and up through a slot in the guard to a joint on the crankcase.

We have managed to damage one of these pipes, although we started off with a clearance of 3/8". I have taken this matter up with BY and he has instructed an alteration to the side engine guard, which will bring the oil pipe over the top of the guard instead of underneath.

When this job has been tried out and found to be satisfactory, I understand BY will issue instructions for a Depot Sheet to be issued.
