THE S.U. COMPANY. CONTINUATION NO. -3- W.A. Robotham, Esq., Messrs. Rolles Royce, Ltd. ----------------------- although, of course, not to anything like the same extent as does the mixture strength up to say 1/3rd or one-half load, so that generally speaking, if with a cold engine an enrichment is effected with standard adjustment jet arrangement of the S.U. then, until the engine has attained a temperature at which it is possible to bring the mixture control back to normal, there will be a very decided over-enrichment for the idling position. This undoubtedly does constitute a defect, and although the consequences are merely that poor idling is obtained until the engine temperature commences to rise, a comparatively short period, we fully appreciate that something will have to be done to overcome this. I should be very interested to hear what you think of the suggestion of mixture control by an additional loading of the piston. With this arrangement, of course, it would be a simple matter to retain our jet control with a reduced range to be used to the idling mixture strength adjustment only. Mr. Skinner has asked me to thank you for the very kind interest you have taken in this matter, and we need hardly say that we shall very greatly appreciate your co-operation in any further work you think necessary to render our carburetter in every respect suitable to the Rolls Royce. Yours faithfully, | ||
