We propose to insert the following paragraph on page 60 of the Instruction Book, and shall be glad to have your approval of this as early as possible, as the book is now going to press. STARTING THE CAR. THE ENGINE SHOULD BE RUN THREE OR FOUR MINUTES UNTIL WARM BEFORE STARTING THE CAR during which time we recommend that the extra oil valve to the cylinders be opened by depressing the valve F (fig.44) by means of a coin or other suitable article. This will give a good supply of oil to the cylinders thus reducing any tendency of the engine to seize, due to the oil being in a cold condition, and petrol being fairly free in the cylinders. It also has the advantage of providing a means of inspecting the extra oil valve to see that the same is in proper working condition.
