Na{Mr Nadin}/S4/LG1114. 1.1.14. Mr.Platford suggests that the following paragraph should be inserted re the use of extra oil (page 68), and we shall be glad to have your remarks on this at your earliest. "When first starting up the engine, especially in cold weather, it is advisable that the extra oil valve should be opened so as to allow a good flush of oil to the cylinders. Oil, when cold, is much thicker than it is during its normal running condition and therefore, is not fed to the cylinder walls as when the engine is warmed up. It is also advisable that the engine should not be run to give its full power until after same has been running a short time and has become warmer as owing to the thick condition of the oil, as above explained, same does not circulate so satisfactorily as it does when the engine is warmed up".
