Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1204. To All Superintendents and Foremen. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/C.4.1.40. TRADE APPRENTICES. ----------------- It has been decided that a more complete register of Trade Apprentices be kept, giving the life history of every apprentice from the date he starts as an errand boy until he completes his apprenticeship. The compiling of this Register will be carried out by the Apprentice Supervisor. In order to collect all the information required, will each foreman in the first place, submit as soon as possible, to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/HAW. Apprentice Supervisor, the number of boys in his charge under the age of twenty-one. Give number of department and Foreman's name. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/HAW. will then send out the required number of sheets to each foreman, requesting the following information. Surname :- Christian names :- Check No. Dept. No. Date of birth.- Date started at R.R. Length of time in dept. Day attends Technical College. Course at Tech. or Evening classes at:- (give name of School or Institute) (if none, write "none"). Actual work he is doing:- Report on ability and general conduct.- List of previous departments in which the boy has served. (e.g. M.I.D; H.T.B; Autos. etc.) Once the scheme has started it will only be necessary to submit reports every six months, on the 1st January and 1st July, and on the occasion of a transfer of a boy from the department. Report forms will be issued by Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/HAW. towards the end of June and December and as required for transfers. It is particularly requested that reports should be submitted whenever a transfer takes place, otherwise the Register will not be complete. (sgd.) Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
