FOR MESSRS. ROLLS ROYCE.

3 - Thermostatic Regulators LT.0884, LT.0885, LT.0886 mounted on RF.50 Control Boxes.

These are regulators of the LR{Mr Ellor}7 type, fitted with 38 ohm field parallel resistances and 63 ohm points resistances, this value of points resistance being chosen so as to prevent "running away" of the dynamo at speeds below 6750 r.p.m.

The shunt winding of the regulator has a resistance of 112 ohms and is of copper. Compensation is introduced by the current from dynamo to battery passing through a three-turn series winding on the same bobbin, while the lamp load from the battery passes through a further two-turn series winding.

The regulators have been set in the Laboratory on a C.45.PV Dynamo (two-pole) at 1500 r.p.m. as follows:-

LT.0884. 17.1 Volts.
LT.0885. 17.0 "
LT.0886. 17.0 "

Connections to the control box are normal, and are given below.

E : to earth (battery & dynamo)
D : to dynamo positive.
F : to dynamo field.
A : to battery.
Al: to lamps.
